A Patient's Perspective - Maria Mastracchio
Maria Mastracchio has lived with Multiple Sclerosis since she was 16 years old. However, she has refused to let her disease become her enemy. After being diagnosed, she continued her studies, and became a teacher. Although her body often gets weak from the disease, her mind does not; Maria is very engaged in the scientific community. Not only is she an active member of the MNH (Montreal Neurological Hospital) community, Maria is also a member of the MUHC Patient's Committee (McGill University Health Centre), a board made up of various members, including patients and researchers, who work together from the 6 major Montreal hospitals. Maria lives with her husband and her service dog, Bella, and lives her life to its fullest.
